A Monkey Lovers Myth:

Where Do Monkeys Come From?

 

It is reported from an unreliable source, that the following edition of the Book of Genesis was discovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls. If authentic, it would answer the question, “Where do monkeys come from?”

 

And Adam said, “Lord when I was in your garden, you walked with me every day. Now I do not see you any more. I am lonely here and it is hard for me to remember how much you love me.”

 

And God said, “I will create a companion for you, who will stay with you and be a loving reflection of Me. Therefore you will feel My love for you even when you can’t see Me.”

 

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam. It was a good animal and God was pleased, even when it barked and wagged its tail.

 

And Adam lived with DOG and it was a companion to him and loved him unfailingly. DOG sat, rolled over, shook hands, and followed Adam’s lead.

 

But after awhile it came to pass that Adam’s Guardian Angel came to God and said, “Lord, Adam has become filled with pride and now believes he is worthy of adoration. Dog has taught him that he is loved, but no one has taught him humility.”

 

And God said, “I will create another new animal for him. This animal will remind him of his limitations.”

 

And God created MONKEY. And MONKEY would not obey Adam. MONKEY jumped like a spring-loaded toy, rolled chairs over, bit Adam’s hand and ran in the opposite direction. And when MONKEY sat still long enough for Adam to gaze into his eyes, Adam was reminded that he was not the Supreme Being. And Adam started to learn humility.

 

And God was pleased. And Adam was usually more humble. And MONKEY continued to remind all those who met him that he himself was worthy but that they were certainly not...
